Top Floor Circus (顶楼马戏团), on November 28th, 2009, at Shanghai’s Mao Livehouse (btw, this place really rooocks!):

If the video takes too much time to load and if you’re not in China, you can watch it on Youtube!

I wasn’t there, so I hope it wasn’t there last performance!…
Here are the translated lyrics (thanks to Chinageeks):

Beat Street /

This set of three parties brings together Shanghai’s skateboarders, graffiti writers, BMXers and other underground street sports (parkour, inline skating,…) to show off their skills and try to build up their following. Turn up for a night of music and displays.

BEAT  STREET

Sweet Dreams

Filed under: Iceskating, France, Music — atomicskate @ 5:05 pm — 187 Views

Thanks to Rastablub, I’ve discovered Mathieu Jost & Pernelle Carron ice dancing partnership
I’m a little bit ashamed to be so disconnected from iceskating, but I acknowledge that, on the one hand, I love this sport, but on the other hand, I’m still convinced that iceskating contests and ambience are deadly boring…

But having a look to the below exhibition program reminds me that galas & shows are once and for all worthy.
It was in Paris Bercy, probably in 2008, for the French "Stars sur Glace" tour.
Skating on two themes of Sweet Dreams (a jazzy version and Marilyn Manson reprise), this program mixes technicality, grace & velocity.

Carron & Jost were the 2006 and 2007 French national bronze medalists and the 2008 and 2009 French national silver medalists. They also won a bronze medal at the 2007 Skate Canada International, finished as high as 6th at the European Championships, and were ninth in their only appearance at the World Championships. Their partnership ended in April 2009. What a loss for ice dancing!…

Bad

I still remember watching Katarina Witt performance on TV at the Calgary Winter Olympics closing ceremony in 1988…
I started iceskating one year before, and her performance, even if not really technical, will stay in all skaters memories as it was is unusual to hear such kind of music with this style of choregraphy during a figure skating contest.

If the video is too long to load, and if you’re not in China, you can access it on Youtube.

For those who don’t know Katarina Witt, here is her long program, on Carmen, at the Calgary Winter Olympics in 1988, achieving a Gold medal:

摇滚在中国还没有死了,但是也还没有出生。。。
我的意思是
在中国有非常好的摇滚乐队,但是我自己问他们怎么可以发展?
Re-TROS(重塑雕像的权利),也可以叫Rebuilding the Rights of Statues是我的一个最喜爱在中国。

Shanghai Rocks? or Sucks?

Filed under: Shanghai, China, Music — atomicskate @ 8:34 pm — 919 Views
More...3 weeks ago, when I read on Internet:
The “Rock It” Dino Beach Rock Festival takes place from June 29 to July 1st at Dino Beach. An amazing 36 bands are scheduled to participate in the massive 3-Days  “Rock It!” festival and they are primed to unleash rock and roll mania on us all!

I was pretty enthusiast learning such kind of news, moreover with the following lineup:

- 新裤子 (New Pants)
(Re-tros)
- Joyside
(Loudspeaker)
(Crystal Butterfly)
and 30 more Chinese rock bands!

I was eager to watch that!

But, the first day, reaching Dino Beach, we’ve experienced our first unpleasant surprise of the night…
