Apologies for publishing so late those pictures…
Anyway, the most important was that I sent on time -ie the day after our ride- a report to Clemens concerning our participation to the 6th 24skate edition
For us, in Shanghai, it was on Sunday, June 14th, earlyyy morning.
We’ve met at 3am in Shanghai downtown. Our 2 金杯 minivans (+ Ginger’s car) were packed with 21 riders!
I’m still astonished that so many people were ready for a ride starting at 4am and furthermore with a late notice from me (only 2 days before!). That’s great
Within these 21 people, we had 13 boys and 8 girls, 10 Chinese people and 11 foreigners (from France, Taiwan, Germany, Denmark, and Mexico).
I’ve edited a short video:
If the video takes too long to load, you can watch low resolution on Youku.
Our aim was to start riding at 4am in 佘山 (Shéshān), but the highway was closed for unknown reason, so we had to drive thru small roads… then arrive at the starting point with 40min late.
北极星 is a real gentleman: helping girls needing solar cream
At 4:40am, it’s still a little bit dark, so we started to ride by night. Actually, at 5am, it was already dawned…
One more time, we enjoyed Diablotim eccentric outfit!
Our track was 49,69km long, starting in 佘山 (Shéshān, 30km outside Shanghai) and finishing at 淀山湖 (Diànshān Lake). It was a mix of smooth roads, bike paths, small roads amid Shanghai suburbs fields.
Weather was cloudy, and the temperature was fresh until 8am. For those who don’t know Shanghai during the summer, fresh means a temperature below 30 degrees hahaha
We arrived at 10:30am at 淀山湖 (Diànshān Lake).
I’ve to confess that I initially foreseen to arrive there at… 7:30am!!! But we wasted 45min at a crossroad, everybody was dispersed, and another reason was that we were more people than foreseen, so needs more time for everything. I also admit that the scenery at the arrival wasn’t really great… (first time going there!) but we enjoyed a nice breakfast with cool people, so it was far enough
You can have a look at this page: all the results & pictures have been put together from all around the world! It’s nice to see where people have rode in Iran, Cameroon, Kenya, Brasil, Spain, Italy, Germany, USA, France, Belgium, Canada, Australia & Malaysia.
Thanks again to Clemens for organizing this event! Hope to join it again next year!!!
Special thanks to Shanghai DK INC. for sponsoring this event in Shanghai!!! One minivan for free was helpful!
