As I can’t throw away traditions, I write this post… very late
For our second rollerskating trip, we’ve chosen to go back to 莫干山 (Mògānshān) on the first day, and then to try two new places around 天荒坪镇 (Tiānhuāngpíng village).
It was on October 11th and 12th.
On Saturday, we’ve started by the same 20km lap: departure from 香格里拉山庄 (Xiānggélǐlā guest house), then easy slopes and flat road.
Afterwards, the road going up hill is still under construction, so we took a mini-van to go uphill. Then, it’s going downhill and later soft slope up to 筏头乡 (Fátóu village). From here it’s easy uphill during 40minutes, then the last 10minutes are tough uphill up to 香格里拉山庄.
I like to go often to Mògānshān, coz each time, colors are different. Two months ago, it was deep green everywhere, but this time landscape was an alternation of yellow and green… Autumn begun…

This time, DiabloTim brought his GPS, so we had our exact location, speed, distance and altitude.
You can see the tracks on the GoogleMap hereunder.
October session gathered girls and boys from China, France, UK, USA and Iran
And, as special guest, Keke the lonely pro-rider! 帅哥!!!
Here are the view and elevation profile for this 20km lap:

After the lunch, we went uphill by car on the road towards 莫干山风景区 (Mògānshān scenic spot), and then downhill up to 筏头乡 (Fátóu village). The first 3km are pretty dangerous downhill. You can see Steeven wounds on the pictures below… Next time, I will require that everybody wear protections (as I do…).
Then we took the car on the road towards 安吉 (ān jí), and turned left on the first road heading to 筏头乡 (Fátóu village). Arrived on the top of the mountain, we parked the car and started the best downhill track of the area! More than 25minutes going down, with heavy speed at the beginning: our peak is… 48km/h!!!
Here are the view and elevation profile for this downhill track:

On Sunday, we’ve driven up to 天荒坪镇 (Tiānhuāngpíng village), then to the top of the highest mountain, called 江南天池 (Jiāngnán tiānchí).
Actually, on the top, there is a huge hydroelectric reservoir, but Chinese tourist industry managed to convert it in a kind of amusement park. When you arrive there, you’ve first to pay a fee for your car parking, then to buy an entrance ticket. Inside, you can take some pictures with a minority(?) costume, seating a horse. You can also rent some tandems, and ride on the concreted way around the reservoir… Greaaaaat place!
We quickly ran away, went thru the tunnel (coz too dark to do rollerskate inside) and stopped our mini-van.
Then we get prepared for a nice downhill! Actually the landscape and scenery are great, but the road is not really smooth… It’s not asphalt, but kinda old concrete slabs…
BTW, thanks to our Technical Support Team!

After this downhill track, we took the car up to 长龙山 (Cháng lóng shān), which is just the opposite mountain (below, you can see the reservoir on the top of the mountain).
We’ve eaten nice local Zhèjiāng food and enjoyed some non-local massager.
During a post-lunch-short-walk, we’ve also met a strange animal in the bamboo forest…
Finally, we went downhill from 长龙山 (Cháng lóng shān). The road is pretty narrow, the slope is really steep, going thru the forest, it’s really one of my favorite track!
Here are the views and elevation profile for these downhill tracks:

I’ve also edited a comparison for all the tracks we’ve done during these two days (elevation vary between 854m and 12m!):
Last but not least, I’ve made a short movie (next time we really have to prepare a better one! btw, anybody interested in filming or editing… contact me!)

I’ll keep you informed by email. In the meantime, Happy Chinese New Year to you too!
By the way, here is a link towards a Beijing Rollerskating website, and they sometimes organize rides and downhill in the mountains nearby their city:
